French

The French program caters to a wide variety of ages and abilities, from beginner Core French students to fluent Immersion students.

Students will learn to listen, speak, read, and write in French, developing their communication skills. They will establish a strong foundation in the basics, opening the door for future  bilingual opportunities in Canada.

Beginner

For beginners, we offer classes for students who have not yet or have only recently begun Core French. This class focuses heavily on basics and vocabulary exposure, and prepares students to succeed in the Grade 4 Provincial Core French curriculum. The objective of this class is for students to be able to listen, speak, read, and write using simple, familiar words and phrases.

intermediate

For students with some previous French instruction, we offer classes to continue to develop their vocabulary and begin to develop fluency. Students will also begin to explore French grammar. This class will prepare students to succeed in the Grade 4-6 Core French Curriculum. The overall objective for this class is for students to be able to listen, speak, read, and write using a variety of familiar words, sentences, and grammatical structures.

advanced

For students with more extensive experience in French, we offer an advanced class to help students master the complexities of the French language and speak not only with fluency, but also accuracy and greater sophistication. This class will prepare students to succeed with the Grades 7-8 Core French Curriculum, or the Early French Immersion Program.  The overall objective of this class is for students to be able to listen, speak, read, and write fluently and with ease, using a wide variety of vocabulary, sentence structures, and grammatical concepts.
