Shawna has been working with children for over 10 years and enjoys inspiring imagination and creativity. She has been drawing since she could hold a crayon and has never stopped. It was at the visual arts program at the National Academy Museum and School of Fine Art in New York that the healing aspect of art making peaked her interest and lead her to pursue a degree in expressive art therapy at the CREATE Institute in Toronto.
To date she has shared her passion by teaching sensory art with children at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital and children's art at various public and private schools throughout Toronto and the GTA. She believes that art making not only encourages self confidence, stress reduction, spatial awareness, mindfulness and problem solving skills, but that it can be fun and exciting too!
